Corona and Sec 188 of Indian Penal Code, 1860

Introduction 
Corona (Covid -19) has been declared ahttp:// pandemic. Cases of corona are increasing day by day and matter is of great concern to the government as well as to the general masses. 

Amidst the outbreak, it is necessary for people to abide by the instructions provided by the government and duly follow the orders given by the public servant. 

When we speak about order given by public servant, it is certainly meant to be mandatorily followed and disobedience of which would certainly put you behind the bars. 

Provision Stated in Indian Penal Code, 1860
Section 188 in The Indian Penal Code
188. Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant.—Whoever, knowing that, by an order promulgated by a public serv­ant lawfully empowered to promulgate such order, he is directed to abstain from a certain act, or to take certain order with certain property in his possession or under his management, disobeys such direction, shall, if such disobedience causes or tends to cause obstruction, annoyance or injury, or risk of obstruction, annoyance or injury, to any person lawfully employed, be punished with simple impris­onment for a term which may extend to one month or with fine which may extend to two hundred rupees, or with both; and if such disobedience causes or trends to cause danger to human life, health or safety, or causes or tends to cause a riot or affray, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both. Explanation.—It is not necessary that the offender should intend to produce harm, or contemplate his disobedience as likely to produce harm. It is sufficient that he knows of the order which he disobeys, and that his disobedience produces, or is likely to produce, harm. Illustration An order is promulgated by a public servant lawfully empowered to promulgate such order, directing that a religious procession shall not pass down a certain street. A knowingly disobeys the order, and thereby causes danger of riot. A has committed the offence defined in this section.

Ingredients of Sec 188
Knowingly abstain to follow an order given by public servant 
 • Causing obstruction, annoyance or injury 
• To any person lawfully employed 
• Causing danger to human life / safety /health 

Who are lawfully employed under the section 
Police officials are the lawfully employed persons who are assigned the job of providing safety to people. They are toiling day and night to ensure good health of the citizens at this moment. They are really working hard by safeguarding the people so that they do not become prone to the outbreak of the virus. 

Punishment

Punishments are also devised under the section. It is distributed in two parts :-
1) If disobedience causes obstruction, annoyance or injury 
-  Imprisonment for 1month + fine upto Rs 200/- or both 
2) If disobedience causes threat to public health / safety 
-  Imprisonment for 6 months + fine upto Rs. 1000/- or both .

Responsibility of a law abiding citizen during the period of crisis 

It is a prime responsibility of every citizen to follow the rules and laws of the country. When the country demands for such support, then one must contribute to the cause. In order to ensure peace and good health , one should abide by the rules in a strict sense, not in a mocking way.

Corona virus (Covid-19) is causing havoc and is spreading its hands and legs so rapidly that its stoppage is unwarranted. In order to curb this menace from spreading, the need of the hour states that it is the duty of the masses to abide by the orders of the public servant & support the officials in handling the situation in a strong manner. These initiatives are taken by them to ensure good health of the citizens. So let's support them by quietly obeying them which in turn would help India to get out of problem very soon. A little support by the masses will help them alleviate the problem.
